14 Years Living With a Mannequin Family – One Artist’s Compelling Story
Suzanne Heintz has proved that the key to a life of happiness doesn’t necessarily lie in landing that perfect partner, having created her own artificial family no less than 14 years ago. It sounds like a pretty ludicrous concept on the surface, but as an artist Ms. Heintz set about creating a photographic timeline of her life featuring herself and her dressmakers mannequin family. That’s no typo – she’s effectively and literally built her family from retail display products! For over a decade, she, her dressmaking dummy husband and tailors dummy tykes have been snapped in all manner of key life moments, from family holidays to her fabricated wedding day. Sainsbury’s Removes 12 Years A Slave Mannequin
Sainsbury s has apologised and removed a mannequin dressed as a character from the film 12 Years a Slave . The mannequin, was on a stand selling DVD and Blu-ray copies. The mannequin, which was on a promotional stand selling DVD and Blu-ray copies of the Oscar-winning film at a branch in Oxford, wore a ripped shirt and black trousers – and even had a twig in the pocket. The clothes, similar to those worn on the cover of the film by the main character, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, featured a sticker saying ‘new’. It was brought to the public’s attention when a Twitter user took a photo of the stand and uploaded it to the social media site which then went viral on all social networks. Amid the backlash, Sainsbury’s issued a swift apology. The display has now been taken down. @SainsburysPR wrote earlier We can only apologise. It’s been taken down from the store. Clearly should never have gone up . What do you think of the slave mannequin as seen in the supermarket s Heyford

La Perla Forced To Remove Skinny Mannequin
Lingerie store La Perla has been forced to remove a mannequin from its New York store after a customer complained about its skinny, anorexic appearance. The mannequin, shown in the image above, was photographed by Michael Rudoy on Monday May 12th 2014 and quickly caused outrage when it went viral on Twitter and other social media networks. He wrote on the social media site: ‘How does #LaPerla think ribs on a mannequin is ok?!’ Only hours later the shop display mannequin, which was wearing a red swimwear set and clearly showed a jutting rib cage and concave stomach, was taken down by a member of staff. Other Twitter users also expressed their disgust at the skinny image, with one user @LisaAnnSpringer, saying: unacceptable! #NotBuyingIt #eatingdisorders kill! #MAEDvocates #IEDAction As well as removing the mannequin, La Perla got in contact with Mr Rudoy over Twitter. Thank you for bringing this to our attent
